The creative spark of Gürkan Karacan was ignited at the age of six when he received his first semi-real toy instrument: a stringless mandolin from the flea market Kadiköy (Istanbul). This gift inspired him to create various string variations.
After he played a real baglama for the first time, it didn´t take long until he discover his true passion - playing and performing.
Over time, he has written a 25-year-long history of music. Today, he is a vibrant musician who can captivate his audience. On the foundation of manifold rhythms, he unfolds his wide range of melodies. His repertoire includes oriental-inspired Swiss folk songs, refreshing flamenco sequences, traditional Anatolian reinterpretations, and distinctive modern original compositions. His biggest trademark must be his crystal-clear voice. "Like Kadife" as one would say in Turkish.
